Once installed, Dropbox will create a virtual folder called My Dropbox and anything in this folder will be synchronized and will be available on any other computer you've installed Dropbox on. The uploading process is quite fast and silent (I didn’t realize it yet indeed). As the document says, just the changed part of file will be synchronized instead of uploading the entire file and I find this algorithm is really smart.
Want to share a file, you just simply copy that file to Public folder then right click on it, choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link and share that link. It’s awesome and handy, no need to open your browser to grab the link to share. And the recipient can download the file right away whether he/she registered Dropbox account yet or not.
