4 Ways To Be The First To Gain Traffic

race In most cases, being the first is always good such as in sport like racing, sprinting. It is the same in internet marketing, being the first to leave a comment, being the first to reply a tweet or being the first to answer a question not only builds your brand, but also gains enormous readers and traffic to your blog. These are tips to help you to be first in most cases.

Be the first to leave a comment

You must be so surprised to know how powerful a comment is. Lisa Newton shared the story of how leaving a comment on a blog that helped increasing her blog traffic up to 975% in a day, and Darren Rowse also wrote a list of 11 Tips for Getting Your Comments Noticed on a Popular Blog. The first item in his list is Be the Early Bird. So being the first to leave a comment may help you a lot. Google Alert is probably the best tool to use for this task. Simply create an alert, you will be notified right away when a post about the subject you are interested in is published. Here are simple steps:

  1. Visit Google Alert

  2. Enter the keyword into Search Terms textbox. To narrow the result and increase the quality of alerts, you should add the label inposttitle to your keyword which tells Google Alert just send you alerts if the keyword is in the title of the post (e.g. I want to get alerts about password protect, the keyword should be inposttitle:”password protect”)

  3. Fill your email in the Your email textbox, then click on Create Alert and all are done. Now you just check your inbox, and click on links in the alert messages and visit blogs to leave comments on.

Be the first to answer a question

be-the-first-to-answerAlthough the traffic from question and answer sites like Yahoo Answer or WikiAnswer is not huge, its quality much higher than the other referring sites and readers from them are likely to be your subscribers and loyal ones. The steps are similar to the ones above, just a little bit difference when you enter in the Search Terms. The search term should be keyword site:domain where keyword is your own keyword and domain is one of question and answer site. You can find it easily in All the top Q & A news (Thanks @guykawasaki for listing these sites for us) Here is my search term for password protect from Yahoo Answer: password protect site:answer.yahoo.com

Be the first to reply a tweet

Twitter recently has emerged and gradually become popular. Most Internet marketers have joined and marketed there. Gaining followers is one of the most important things everyone should do, and replying tweets to help others is the best way to gain extra followers. You may use TweetBeep to send you notifications whenever someone tweet about the thing you are interested in. The usage is quite easy. Once registered, create a new alert, then fill in textboxes the search term you want to track. You can also track for hashtag and track in different languages.

Be the first to respond a thread in forum

Forum is the place to discuss, to share, to make friends for ages. Being active in forum is still important to many people, even some get a lot of traffic and high quality back links there. To be notified whenever a thread or a respond in forum appears, you should use BoardReader which is an exclusive search engine for forums. Simply type and search for your interest, then on the result page, click on Subscribe link and fill in your email to get notifications via email.

Next, visit and register an account in order to reply that thread. You should also use RoboForm to help you save time by automatically filling in the register form.
